It took me way too long to realize this, but one of the best pieces of outdoor equipment you can own these days is a portable power station. If you spend more than eight hours outside, a portable power station is almost a requirement. And nearly every other piece of outdoor gear (save for my fly rods, thankfully) requires some sort of power source. Our phones, watches, tablets, air pumps, computers, flashlights...heck, just about everything operates on rechargeable batteries.
However, once you have a portable power station with its USB chargers, 12V car ports, and AC outlets, along with its own power cord, you quickly realize just how many other cords you need to bring with you on your outdoor adventures. Enter Remote Equipment's ORG KITS. For your cord of cords, if you will.

I may have been slow on the uptake in realizing the importance of a portable power station, but I was ahead of the curve in discovering just how vital an ORG KIT is. Throw all these rechargeable cords together and you get what loosely resembles a snake nest. However, spend 10 minutes organizing them, and the charge cords (as well as smaller chargers and handheld electronics) tuck nicely inside the foot-long ORG KITS.
There's a wide variety of gear you can put in Remote Equipment ORG KITS – your handheld tech accessories are among them. Although they were initially designed to work in conjunction with our CHARLIE 25, they work independently just fine.
Some other ideas for using your ORG KITS include:
With two internal stretch pockets, one internal zippered pocket, and one external pocket, there's plenty of storage to turn these into Dopp kits bags. Also known as a toiletry bag. (Dopp, in case you were wondering, is a term that originates in Germany when Charles Doppelt began producing a new type of toiletry bag in 1926.)
One of my ORG KITS was converted into a full-time Dopp Kit, where I keep things like my toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, medication, razors, hairbrush and hair products, and sunscreen lotion.

Let's discuss another feature of ORG KIT: the Challenge Outdoor ECOPAK waterproof material. If you spend any time on the water, you know how difficult it can be to keep personal items dry. From day one, I used my first ORG KIT as a boating bag. It's a place to safely hold my car keys, phone, wallet, boat registration papers, and other must-haves. I simply put it in a storage compartment on the boat, and I rest easy knowing that if it rains or the waves come crashing over the bow, all my essential things will stay dry.

Here's where the ORG KITS' exterior daisy chain feature that allows you to strap ORG KITS to the exterior of larger backpacks really shines. At 12 inches long and 5 inches wide (when expanded), ORG KITS are an excellent size for first-aid kits. The ability to simply strap them to a backpack means you can access a first-aid kit easily and quickly. The ability to access a first-aid kit without having to remove your pack is extremely valuable.
This one is a credit to my wife, who has converted our SUV into something resembling a Sprinter van. We have inflatable mattresses and all kinds of interior accouterments that allow us to camp comfortably in our SUV. Of course, space is a premium, so she snagged an ORG KIT and stuffed it with knives, matches, salt, pepper, sugar, small flashlights, bug spray, and other assorted camping essentials that don't always have a home. Our camping ORG KIT is striking blaze orange, so it’s easy to find among all the gear we've got stuffed in the back of our rig.
It's hard to overstate the versatility of ORG KITS. If you have any outdoor hobbies, from car camping to hardcore adventure travel, you can find a use for one of these. Or two. I've pretty much made them a go-to for holiday and birthday gift-giving for all my outdoorsy friends, because all the gear we have needs to go somewhere.
This blog was written by Matt Crawford, who lives in Vermont and assists in the marketing of Remote Equipment gear. His favorite bag is the CHARLIE 25, but he continues to explore additional used for the ORG KIT. If you're thinking of adding an ORG KIT or two to your bag collection, buy them now at up to 50% off regular MSRP.
